About Birthdays in KP

We recognize that a child’s birthday can be the most important day of his or her year. Many children and families will want to celebrate birthdays at school this year. Please be aware that each kindergartener’s birthday will be celebrated at school in special ways. Some of these ways include:

Each child’s name will be announced to the school on his or her birthday (Birthdays that are not school days are announced on the school day preceding a child’s birthday.) The child will receive a “birthday ribbon” from the principal that he or she can proudly wear all day!

The teacher will give a special birthday treat (sticker, pencil, or award) to the birthday child.

In the classroom we will celebrate each child’s birthday with special birthday wishes for the birthday child. Each child will receive a special birthday bag and poem on the day of his or her birthday celebration.

If you are interested in contributing to your child’s celebration at school you could…

Prepare your child to share his or her birthday tradition with the class. Your child will have the opportunity to tell the class.

Send your child to school with a favorite book. The teacher will read this book to the class and send it home.

Donate a book to our classroom library or school library in honor of your child’s birthday. This book will be read by the teacher to the class.

We will not be celebrating any birthdays with special edible treats. Please do not send in cupcakes, cakes, candy, etc.

Each child’s birthday will be celebrated, unless we are specifically asked not to celebrate at school. All summer birthdays will be celebrated in June. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Mrs. Paris
